The countdown to the 2026 Preakness Stakes is on, and all eyes are on Iron Honor, who has emerged as the 9-2 morning-line favorite for the second jewel of the Triple Crown. With the race set for Saturday, May 16, at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland, this year's event brings a fresh twist as it moves from its traditional home at Pimlico Race Course due to ongoing renovations.

Iron Honor, trained by the renowned Chad Brown, drew the No. 9 post in a packed field of 14 horses, all vying for a share of the $2 million purse. While his recent seventh-place finish in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial on April 4 at Aqueduct might raise eyebrows, the colt has shown flashes of brilliance that make him a compelling pick for bettors.

One notable absence is Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo, who will skip the Preakness to focus on the Belmont Stakes on June 6 at Saratoga. Trainer Cherie DeVaux confirmed the decision, leaving the door wide open for other contenders to shine. Only three Derby runners—Ocelli (third), Incredibolt (sixth), and Robusta (14th)—are making the trip to Laurel Park. Great White, who was also in the Derby field, was scratched after a pre-race incident, adding to the intrigue.

Incredibolt, a late addition to the Preakness field, has trainer Riley Mott feeling optimistic. "He came out of the Derby in good shape, and we have been clocking the field of (Preakness) horses and we thought it would be the right opportunity to try the horse back," Mott said.

The full field, with morning-line odds, includes a mix of seasoned contenders and long-shot hopefuls:

1. Taj Mahal (5-1), Brittany Russell, Sheldon Russell
3. Crupper (30-1), Donnie Von Hemel, Junior Alvarado
8. Bull by the Horns (30-1), Saffie Joseph Jr., Micah Husbands
11. Corona de Oro (30-1), Dallas Stewart, John Velazquez
14. Pretty Boy Miah (15-1), Jeremiah Englehart, Ricardo Santana Jr.

Post time is set for 7:01 p.m., with NBC providing live coverage from 4-7:30 p.m. Whether you're a seasoned horse racing fan or new to the sport, this year's Preakness promises plenty of drama and excitement.
