Let’s rank the QBs the Bills will face in the 2026 regular season

The Buffalo Bills are staring down a brutal slate of quarterbacks in the 2026 regular season, and we're here to break it all down. Forget the old-school method of judging schedule difficulty by last year's win-loss records—today, we're ranking the signal-callers themselves.

Back in the day, I always felt that looking at the list of quarterbacks a team would face gave you a much truer sense of the challenge ahead. And for a team like the Bills, who live and die by their own elite QB play, knowing who lines up across from Josh Allen is everything.

Here's the full schedule breakdown: at home, Buffalo welcomes the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Lions, Bears, Chiefs, Chargers, and Ravens. On the road, they'll travel to face the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Broncos, Raiders, Packers, Vikings, Texans, and Rams.

Let's start at the bottom of the barrel. It's still strange to think Geno Smith is back with the Jets, isn't it? For a while during draft season, I'd have to pause and remind myself who was under center for Gang Green. Smith's early-30s revival seemed to vanish last season in Las Vegas, where he threw 19 touchdowns against a league-high 17 interceptions. His 2025 passer rating of 84.7 was his lowest since 2017, and his yards-per-attempt average of 6.8 was his worst since 2020. Don't get me wrong—Smith is still a reasonably talented passer. But at nearly 36 years old, it feels right placing him here in these rankings.

Just one spot ahead, we've got the Raiders' QB situation. Kirk Cousins is older than Smith, and just a few years ago, it wouldn't have been crazy to rank him much higher. But after losing his starting job in Atlanta to Michael Penix Jr., Cousins played some respectable football—with numbers nearly identical to Smith's. His passer rating last season was 84.8, and he averaged 6.8 yards per attempt. And while I'm fully aware of how rookie quarterbacks tend to struggle, I do view this year's No. 1 overall pick as an advanced version of what Cousins brings to the table.
