As the Colts search for a trade partner for Anthony Richardson, options appear to be dwindling.

It's been over two months since quarterback Anthony Richardson requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts, yet he's still wearing the horseshoe. And as the weeks tick by, the list of potential landing spots is shrinking fast.

Back in mid-March, ESPN's Stephen Holder floated the Green Bay Packers as a team to watch in trade talks. But on Monday, the Packers ended that speculation by signing veteran backup Tyrod Taylor. That door is now closed.

According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Richardson's ideal destination would be an offense rooted in the McVay-Shanahan-LaFleur coaching tree—a system where he can learn and develop. But the Rams just drafted Ty Simpson, and the 49ers still have Mac Jones behind Brock Purdy. So those options are likely off the table too.

There are other branches of that coaching tree still out there: Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota, Liam Coen in Jacksonville, and Mike LaFleur in Arizona. But each comes with complications. The Vikings are sorting out their own quarterback situation with J.J. McCarthy. The Jaguars are locked in with Trevor Lawrence. And the Cardinals? They're still searching for their quarterback of the future, and how they feel about Richardson remains unclear.

ESPN's Adam Schefter described the trade market for Richardson as "soft," and the fact that no deal materialized around the NFL draft speaks volumes. The Colts are willing to move him, but general manager Chris Ballard wants a fair return for the 23-year-old former fourth overall pick—and he's not about to give him away.

For now, Richardson is showing up to voluntary offseason workouts and going through the motions as a Colt. There's no end in sight, and Ballard's post-draft comments to Rich Eisen said it all: "Well, nothing yet. He's still a Colt as of right now. We'll continue to work through that."

With Riley Leonard also on the roster, the Colts have options. But finding the right trade partner for Richardson? That's getting tougher by the day.
