Porto have officially announced the permanent signing of Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal, bringing an end to the Polish defender's successful loan spell in Portugal. The 24-year-old has been a key figure for the Dragons this season, making 25 appearances in the Primeira Liga as the club clinched the league title last week.
The deal is valued at an initial €17 million (£14.6 million), with an additional €5 million (£4.3 million) in potential performance-related add-ons. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, meaning they will receive €2 million (£1.7 million) from any future transfer. Kiwior has signed a four-year contract at the Estádio do Dragão, which includes a hefty release clause of €70 million (£60.4 million).
Kiwior's move to Porto comes after a challenging spell at Arsenal, where he struggled to secure regular first-team football. The centre-back started just 10 Premier League games in the 2024/25 season, and his departure was facilitated by the arrival of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal are expected to turn Hincapie's loan into a permanent transfer, further solidifying their defensive options.
For Kiwior, this permanent move represents a fresh start and an opportunity to build on his impressive form in Portugal. As a Poland international, he will be looking to continue his development in a team that has just been crowned champions. For fans of Porto and Arsenal alike, this transfer marks the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one for the talented defender.
