Nottingham Forest pulled off a stunning 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, delivering a performance full of grit, precision, and composure that could prove pivotal in their fight for Premier League survival.

From the very first whistle, Forest looked sharper and more determined, despite manager Vitor Pereira making eight changes with one eye on Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa. The visitors struck inside two minutes, with Taiwo Awoniyi powering home a header after Dilane Bakwa got the better of Marc Cucurella and delivered a perfectly weighted cross into the box.

Chelsea were rattled, and Forest capitalized. In the 15th minute, Malo Gusto pulled back Awoniyi as he chased another Bakwa delivery. After a VAR review, Igor Jesus stepped up and coolly slotted the penalty straight down the middle. Gusto was fortunate to escape with just a yellow card for his troubles.

The home side had moments to rally. Enzo Fernandez struck the post, and 18-year-old Jesse Derry—making his first senior start—won a penalty after a worrying head collision with Zach Abbott. The young winger was later taken to hospital, casting a sobering shadow over an already difficult afternoon for Chelsea.

Cole Palmer had a golden chance to shift the momentum before halftime, but Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels guessed correctly and pushed his low spot-kick away with a full-stretch save. It was a moment that summed up Chelsea's day: plenty of possession and flashes of quality, but little conviction when it mattered most.

Interim head coach Calum McFarlane, taking charge at Stamford Bridge for the first time after Liam Rosenior's dismissal, introduced Liam Delap and Levi Colwill at the break. But any hopes of a comeback were dashed seven minutes into the second half. Morgan Gibbs-White, fresh off the bench, slid a low cross into the path of Awoniyi, who tapped in his second goal of the match to seal the victory.

For Forest, this was a statement win—ruthless, composed, and packed with the kind of spirit that can turn a season around. For Chelsea, it's another bitter chapter in a campaign that continues to drift away from its ambitions.
