Vermont's rising sophomore forward Jonah Aegerter is proving that sometimes the simplest approach is the most effective. Known for his infectious energy and "Swiss Army knife" versatility, this fun-loving Catamount relies on one thing above all else: pure speed.

"I like to play fast and make sure my legs are always moving," Aegerter says. "That's a big one for me."

The Janesville, Wisconsin native's path to the University of Vermont was anything but straightforward. He logged time across three different junior leagues—the NAHL, BCHL, and USHL—before landing in Burlington. Those five years of junior hockey, he says, flew by "in a snap of your fingers." But that journey taught him a valuable lesson: don't overthink it.

"Honestly, I just read, react, and don't overthink," Aegerter explains. "Whenever everyone plays their best, they have their brain off. I skate when I can, pass when I can, and shoot when I can. I enjoy being a Swiss Army knife."

That mindset paid off in a big way during his freshman campaign. Aegerter tallied 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in 32 games for the Catamounts, including a highlight-reel goal that cut the deficit to one late in a December matchup at Boston University.

But for Aegerter, it's not just about the numbers. It's about enjoying the ride. He's not in a hurry to map out his future, preferring to focus on what he can control: his work ethic and leadership.

"I try to enjoy each day and have fun with it," he says. "It's kind of simple, but simple is better in my opinion."

Whether he's blowing past defenders or keeping things light in the locker room, Jonah Aegerter is a reminder that in hockey—and in life—sometimes the best play is the simplest one.
