Oxford United is set for a major squad overhaul this summer as winger Przemyslaw Placheta and eight other players prepare to depart the Kassam Stadium following the club's relegation to League One.
The Polish winger, who joined the U's in the summer of 2024, made 60 appearances for the club but was sidelined for the remainder of the season in April after suffering a hamstring injury. His exit marks the end of a key chapter for Oxford, which also sees the departure of Myles Peart-Harris, Hidde ter Avest, Owen Dale, Will Goodwin, Joshua Johnson, Steph Negru, Tom Bradshaw, and Stuart Findlay.
Peart-Harris, who arrived in January, contributed 20 appearances during his brief stint, while ter Avest leaves after nearly two years with the club. Dale, who joined from Blackpool in 2024, spent last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle. Each player played a role in Oxford's recent Championship campaigns, but the club is now turning its focus to rebuilding for a promotion push.
Head of football operations Ed Waldron expressed gratitude for the departing players' contributions. "Przemyslaw Placheta and Hidde ter Avest both played significant roles across our two seasons in the Championship, while players such as Myles Peart-Harris and Owen Dale made important contributions during key periods in the club's recent history," he said.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Oxford's recruitment team has already been working for months to strengthen the squad. "We will continue to look at ways to strengthen and improve the squad as we look to respond next season and push for promotion back to the Championship," Waldron added.
For fans, this marks a period of transition, but also an opportunity to refresh the roster with new talent. As the U's gear up for League One, the focus will be on building a team capable of bouncing back quickly—and perhaps even making a statement in the division.
