The 2026 NFL Draft takes place tonight in Pittsburgh. Fans in attendance, however, weren't solely invested in football.
That's because the Pittsburgh Penguins, inching toward the end of a nearly two-decade run with Sidney Crosby in the lineup, are making one more vault toward the Stanley Cup. It is, however, going poorly. The Pens have lost three straight games, leaving them one loss away from a humiliating sweep at the hands of their in-state rival.
Pittsburgh fans have not conceded, however. And even if they are, they would like to make their feelings about Travis Konecny, Trevor Zegras or Gritty known. They do not care for that one team to the east. Not even a little.
On Thursday night, about two hours before the first selection of the draft was set to be made, they made those feelings known on an ESPN broadcast. As you'd expect from a good, hateful hockey chant, the footage is not safe for work.
The Flyers are up 3-0 and have outscored the Penguins 10-4 along the way despite getting outshot 73-75. Unless prime Marc-Andre Fleury is about to skate between the pipes, a mean chant on cable television may be all the damage they can do to Philadelphia.
