The Pirates top need is a very easy one to fix.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are climbing back into playoff relevance, and for a change, it's not just blind hope. Thanks to the electric arm of Paul Skenes and some savvy offseason moves, the Pirates are sitting at 24-20 and looking like legitimate contenders in the NL Central. But with the Chicago Cubs still ahead of them, the front office may need to get active at the trade deadline to close the gap.

According to Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller, the Pirates' biggest need is clear: a right-handed reliever. The bullpen's right side has been shaky, with former closer Dennis Santana struggling to generate swings and misses. That's a problem when you're trying to hold leads in tight divisional games.

Here's the good news: right-handed relievers are the easiest commodity to find at the trade deadline. Every year, teams fall out of contention and start shopping their bullpen arms. As Miller notes, "There are always right-handed relievers bound to be found at the deadline."

The Pirates are in an even better spot because their left-handed relief is already solid. With Gregory Soto, Mason Montgomery, and Evan Sisk holding things down from the left side, Pittsburgh can focus entirely on upgrading the right-handed options without splitting their attention.

So, who could be on the move? Keep an eye on Bryan Abreu of the Houston Astros and Garrett Whitlock of the Boston Red Sox. Both are quality right-handed relievers playing for struggling American League teams that may be sellers by August 3rd. And with plenty of other sellers likely to emerge, the Pirates should have no shortage of options to fortify their bullpen for a playoff push.
