The Richland Rams boys track and field team is hitting its stride at the perfect time. With the heart of the spring season approaching, the Rams delivered a statement performance, capturing the team title at the prestigious 77th West Central Coaches Association Meet in Windber.

In a thrilling battle that came down to the wire, Richland's remarkable depth proved decisive. The Rams edged out a strong Bedford squad 122-120 to claim the Class 2A crown in a field of 17 teams. This victory underscores their status as a well-rounded contender, building crucial momentum as they set their sights on conference and district championships.

The Rams' path to victory was paved by four individual champions and consistent scoring across the board. Senior standout Joey McAneny was a force on the track, showcasing elite speed by sweeping the 100-meter (11.24) and 200-meter (22.50) dashes. His performance in the 200 was particularly clutch, as he powered off the final bend to secure the win.

Richland's strength wasn't limited to the track. In the field events, Arison McCulty dominated the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 5 inches, while Van Gontkovic claimed gold in the high jump by clearing 6 feet, 2 inches.
