The Philadelphia Phillies may be dreaming of a blockbuster trade for Mike Trout, but one major obstacle is being completely overlooked in these conversations—and it's a deal-breaker.

For some reason, trade rumors swirling around Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels have picked up steam recently. But let's pump the brakes here. We're talking about arguably the greatest player in Angels history and a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer. Every time he steps on the field, he performs at an otherworldly level. It almost feels disrespectful when people say he's "turning back the clock." Remember: this is Mike Trout we're talking about. He should be getting 100% of Hall of Fame votes when the time comes.

Still, the chatter persists. There's at least some question about whether Trout's future lies in Los Angeles. According to Robert Murray of FanSided, however, there's a lot more to this story than just the Angels deciding to trade their superstar.

"I'm incredibly skeptical that Trout will be on the move," Murray wrote. "He's had numerous opportunities to approach the Angels in years past to say he wants out of Anaheim and has yet to do so; he's incredibly loyal. He also has a full no-trade clause, and his contract, which pays him $37.1 million per season through 2030, remains a huge obstacle."

That full no-trade clause is the factor no one is talking about. It gives Trout complete control over his destiny. Sure, he could approach the Angels and say he's willing to waive it for the right team—like the Phillies, who are reportedly interested. But as Murray pointed out, it would be surprising to see Trout make that move at this stage of his career, especially when he has no real reason to leave.

So while Phillies fans can dream about adding the three-time MVP to their lineup, the reality is that Trout's loyalty and his contract make a trade highly unlikely. Sometimes, the best moves are the ones that never happen.
