The Phillies are getting their fire-breathing closer back just as the team hits its stride. Philadelphia activated Jhoan Duran from the 15-day injured list Tuesday night ahead of their matchup with the Athletics, giving the bullpen a massive late-inning boost.

Duran, 28, has been sidelined since April 11 with a strained left oblique muscle. Before the injury, the hard-throwing right-hander was dominant, posting a 1.35 ERA with five saves and a 1-1 record over 6 2/3 innings. His return couldn't come at a better time for a Phillies team that's suddenly red-hot.

Philadelphia has won six of its last seven games following the firing of manager Rob Thomson and the promotion of interim skipper Don Mattingly. With Duran back in the ninth inning, the Phillies now have a lockdown option to close out those tight wins—a crucial weapon as they look to keep their momentum rolling.
