The one-time Boston playoff hero, now with Philadelphia, continues to haunt his old stomping grounds with two homers in the three-game series.

Kyle Schwarber just can't stop making himself at home at Fenway Park. The Philadelphia Phillies' designated hitter delivered a game-winning, two-run homer in the eighth inning Thursday, powering his team to a 3-1 series-clinching victory over the Boston Red Sox. It was his second homer of the three-game series, and it left fans wondering: why did Boston ever let him go?

Schwarber's bat is on an absolute tear. With seven home runs in his last seven games, he's reminding Red Sox Nation of his legendary 2021 stretch run, when he crushed 10 homers and drove in 24 runs in just 51 games for Boston. That performance made him a Beantown icon—yet the Red Sox chose not to re-sign him that winter. He landed in Philadelphia on a four-year, $79 million deal, and last December, despite reports that Boston would pursue him again, he recommitted to the Phillies on a massive five-year, $150 million contract.

His comfort at Fenway is undeniable. In 29 career games at the historic ballpark, Schwarber has launched eight home runs. Thursday's blast was his 18th of the season, leading the majors—a stark contrast to Boston's lineup, which ranks 27th in homers with just 31. After striking out in his first two at-bats against Ranger Suarez, Schwarber connected off reliever Tyler Samaniego for the decisive swing.

The series also featured a first-inning homer from Schwarber in Tuesday's 2-1 win, followed by an 0-for-2, two-walk night in Wednesday's 3-1 loss. But Thursday's heroics sealed the deal, leaving one question echoing through the stands: with a comfort level this high, how could Boston ever let him walk away?
