Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is turning heads this season—and it's not just the fans who are taking notice. Through 37 games, Marsh is leading all of Major League Baseball with a blistering .353 batting average and ranks third on the team with 21 RBIs. His remarkable resurgence has caught the attention of teammate Kyle Schwarber and interim manager Don Mattingly, both of whom believe this is just the beginning.
Marsh's journey to this hot streak wasn't without its struggles. After a tough stint last season that included a 0-for-29 stretch in April and a demotion to Triple-A, his turnaround has been nothing short of impressive. Since rejoining the Phillies on May 3, Marsh has hit .317 with an .852 OPS, showing no signs of slowing down.
"He's always had it in him. I don't think there's ever been a doubt," Schwarber told Jeff Kerr of 97.3 ESPN. "If you take away last April, it's pretty good. The more he's been able to go out there, build that confidence, and stick with his routine, great things are gonna happen. He has the right approach and he's never rushed up there."
Mattingly echoed that confidence, noting that Marsh's game is built for long-term success. "There's no reason he can't continue on," Mattingly said. "He's a good hitter, and as he gets older, he'll only get better. He's hitting both lefties and righties, he's a smart game planner, and he understands what the pitcher is trying to do. If he can sustain this stretch, there's no reason he can't keep it going."
From his rookie days with the Angels—where he posted a .254 average and .673 OPS—to now leading the league in hitting, Marsh's growth is a testament to hard work and resilience. For a Phillies team looking to make noise this season, having a confident, locked-in Marsh in the outfield and at the plate could be the spark they need.
