The Philadelphia Phillies, in partnership with Toyota, delivered a surprise that one local veteran will never forget—a moment that reminds us all of the power of community and second chances.

Holly Beckes, an 11-year U.S. Air Force veteran, has been open about her remarkable journey of resilience. After struggling with addiction to alcohol and drugs, she found a lifeline at the Veterans Multi-Service Center in Old City. The center not only helped her get back on her feet but also assisted her in finding a job and completing her education. Today, Beckes shares her story to inspire fellow service members working to rebuild their lives.

On Monday, that same center became the backdrop for a heartwarming surprise. Phillies representatives presented Beckes with a custom jersey and extended an incredible honor: she will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Phillies Salute to Service game on Saturday, May 23. To prepare for the big moment, she even got to practice with Phillies legends Mickey Morandini and Dickie Noles—a fitting way to celebrate her comeback.

"I can't say enough about the Veterans Multi-Service Center. They've helped save my life, and I will forever be grateful," an emotional Beckes shared, capturing the spirit of a day that blended baseball, gratitude, and hope.
