The Philadelphia Eagles are making headlines this offseason, and it's not just because of their Super Bowl aspirations. With star wide receiver A.J. Brown seemingly on his way out, the team is already stacking its roster for the future—and one top free agent could be the missing piece.
According to Tyler Dragon of USA Today, the Eagles have been named the best landing spot for veteran wideout Jauan Jennings, who remains one of the most intriguing names left on the free agent market. After five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Jennings is still searching for a new home, and Philadelphia might be the perfect fit.
Last season, Jennings hauled in 55 catches for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns, proving he's not just a reliable target but a red-zone threat. His physical style and ability to win contested catches make him an ideal candidate to step into the X-receiver role if Brown is traded—a move that seems increasingly likely, especially after June 1 when Brown's $40 million cap hit can be split over two years.
The Eagles have already been busy preparing for life without Brown. They used their first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on elite prospect Makai Lemon, who is expected to thrive in the slot. They've also added veteran pass-catchers Hollywood Brown and Dontayvion Wicks to the mix. But adding Jennings would give quarterback Jalen Hurts another proven weapon and create a dynamic receiving corps alongside DeVonta Smith, who is more than capable of being the primary wideout.
As Dragon noted, "DeVonta Smith is more than capable of being Philly’s primary wideout, but he’s best as a Z receiver. First-round pick Makai Lemon is an ideal fit in the slot. Jennings could be inserted as the Eagles' X receiver." That kind of versatility could make the Eagles' offense even more dangerous.
Of course, there's no guarantee Brown will be traded, and the Eagles might already have enough depth at wide receiver. But with the offseason still in full swing, adding a proven playmaker like Jennings could be the move that keeps Philadelphia in championship contention for years to come.
