Florida Gators offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been the best addition in Gainesville, and his recruiting has been on fire.

Florida Gators offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is building something special in Gainesville, and he's showing no signs of slowing down. The latest addition? Four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson, who committed to the Gators over Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt.

Hutcheson, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound tackle from Roanoke, Virginia, is ranked as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the 2027 Rivals300 and No. 91 overall in the industry rankings. He joins a rapidly growing 2027 class that already includes five-star Maxwell Hiller and four-star Peyton Miller, making Hutcheson the third offensive lineman and first true tackle to commit.

This is a massive win for Trautwein, who has been nothing short of a game-changer since arriving from Penn State. Under his guidance, the Gators have already secured 10 commitments this spring—a stark contrast to the two Billy Napier had at this point last season. For context, Florida hasn't landed a five-star offensive lineman since Martez Ivey in 2015, making these recent additions all the more significant.

What makes Hutcheson stand out? His athleticism is immediately evident on film. He moves exceptionally well in the run and screen game, consistently getting his hands on defenders with ease. His length is a major asset, keeping defensive linemen at bay and preventing them from getting into his chest. While scouts would like to see a bit more dominant finishing on tape, his potential is undeniable.

For Gators fans, the message is clear: the offensive line is being rebuilt with elite talent, and Trautwein is the architect. With Hutcheson on board and more recruits likely on the way, the future in the trenches has never looked brighter.
