Scottie Scheffler is chasing history this week. The world No. 1 arrives at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, looking to win his second straight PGA Championship—and his second tournament of the year. If he pulls it off, he'll be the first back-to-back winner since Brooks Koepka in 2018-2019. Tiger Woods, a two-time repeat champion (1999-2000 and 2006-2007), won't be in the field this year, but the stage is set for another memorable major.
The action tees off Thursday, and Scheffler enters as the +480 favorite. He's not alone at the top of the board: Rory McIlroy (+950), Cameron Young (+1200), Jon Rahm (+1500), and Ludvig Åberg (+1800) round out the top contenders. But before you lock in your picks, you'll want to hear what SportsLine golf expert David Bearman has to say.
Bearman knows his stuff. After serving as ESPN's golf researcher from 2008-2011 and as Deputy Editor of ESPN Chalk from 2019-2023, he's been on fire in 2026. He's up more than 18 units this year, hitting Cam Young outright at The Players Championship, Matt Fitzpatrick at the RBC Heritage, and Cam Young again at the Cadillac Championship. He's already cashed 28 placement bets (top 5/10/20) in the first 11 tournaments.
So what's his read on this year's PGA Championship? One name he's fading: Ludvig Åberg. Despite having the sixth-lowest odds, the 26-year-old Swede is still searching for his first major win. His best major finish came at the 2024 Masters, where he placed second. Since then, it's been a mixed bag: 12th at the 2024 U.S. Open, 23rd at the 2025 Open Championship, and missed cuts at the PGA Championship in both 2024 and 2025.
"Simply put, I don't trust Åberg with it all on the line on Sunday," Bearman said. "He may very well win three or four majors when all is said and done, but I need to see him win the first one on Sunday before I feel comfortable taking him."
Bearman has locked in his full set of predictions, sleepers, and golfers to avoid for the 2026 PGA Championship. Whether you're building your betting card or just looking for an edge in your office pool, his insights could make all the difference at Aronimink.
