PGA Championship 2026: Bryson DeChambeau MCs (again) and six other big names who will miss the weekend

DeChambeau has not missed back-to-back major cuts since 2017.

It's been a rough stretch for some of golf's biggest names at the 2026 PGA Championship, and none more surprising than Bryson DeChambeau's early exit. After a stunning run that saw him finish inside the top 10 in six of his last eight majors—including a win and two runner-ups—DeChambeau's missed cut at last month's Masters seemed like a fluke. But after shooting 76 and 71 at Aronimink to finish seven over, it's clear the big hitter has some work to do.

This marks the first time DeChambeau has missed back-to-back cuts in majors since 2017, when he failed to make the weekend at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. He's never missed three straight, a feat he'll hope to avoid at next month's U.S. Open at Shinnecock, where he tied for 25th in 2018.

DeChambeau isn't alone in his struggles. Here are six other notable names who won't be playing the weekend in Philly:

A former Masters champion saw his incredible streak of 99 consecutive major starts come to a quiet end. After rounds of 72 and 76, he missed his second cut in his last three PGA Championships, failing to add to his major victory tally.

Viktor Hovland has been battling his swing all season—and arguably his whole career. That fight continued with an opening 74 and a second-round 72, marking his first missed cut in a major since the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.

The reigning U.S. Open champion seemed to be building momentum after a win at the Valero Texas Open just before the Masters. But that momentum has stalled dramatically—he's now missed consecutive cuts in both majors this year.

Tyrrell Hatton has quietly built an impressive major resume, making 16 of his last 17 cuts with nine top-20 finishes. But even his consistency couldn't save him this week, as he joins the list of big names heading home early.

As the weekend approaches, all eyes will be on the leaderboard at Aronimink—but for these players, it's back to the drawing board.
