FROSTBURG — History keeps writing itself for Allegany softball. For the sixth straight season, the Campers have swept through the Western Maryland Athletic Conference without a blemish, and Monday's 11-1 statement win over Mountain Ridge only added to the legend.

The top-ranked Campers (17-1, 8-0 WestMAC) are now a perfect 45-0 in conference play since 2020—a streak that feels almost mythical in high school sports. "There's going to come a day when we lose a conference game," coach Dave Winner said with a shrug. "It has to happen. But that won't be the end of the world either. It's a pleasure to coach these kids. They're coachable, they're good students, they're nice kids."

Monday's rout was powered by 14 hits and a complete-game gem from Jordyn Sneathen, who drove in four runs and limited the Miners to just one unearned run. Sneathen's biggest moment came in the second inning, when she cleared the bases with a triple—one of four extra-base hits for the Campers. Tyiss Jessie added three hits and two RBIs, including a triple of her own, while Savannah Walton (double) and Alyssa Rader (double) also went deep into the gaps.

What made the offensive explosion even more impressive? Six of Allegany's first seven runs came with two outs. "Our team's a good hitting team," Winner said. "We're starting to come back and hit it hard. Even a lot of our outs were hit pretty hard."

Defensively, Jessie turned heads with a highlight-reel play at first base, snaring a hard liner off Anne Baker's bat and stepping on the bag for an inning-ending double play in the third. That kind of effort has become the standard for a program that enters the Class 1A West Region I playoffs as the No. 1 seed with a first-round bye waiting next week.

Mountain Ridge (8-10, 3-5) showed fight despite the lopsided score. Destinee Johnson drove in the Miners' only run on a sacrifice fly, and coach Kim Jackson praised her team's resilience: "The score didn't indicate how the game was. We felt like we played well again. This team has not had any quit in it for two years, and they didn't give up today."

The Miners close their regular season Tuesday at home against Frankfort, while Allegany rests up for a postseason run that feels destined for something special.
