Nottingham Forest delivered a statement performance at Stamford Bridge, putting three past Chelsea to take a massive step toward Premier League survival. Manager Vitor Pereira couldn't hide his pride, praising his squad's "resilience" and "confidence" after the 3-0 victory—a result that lifts the Reds six points clear of the relegation zone.

The match got off to a dream start for Forest. Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring early, nodding home at the back post from Bilane Dakwa's pinpoint cross past Robert Sanchez. The lead was doubled shortly after when Igor Jesus converted from the penalty spot, following Malo Gusto's shirt-pull on Awoniyi in the box. Forest went into the break firmly in control.

The second half saw no let-up. Awoniyi bagged his second of the afternoon, finishing off a cross from half-time substitute Morgan Gibbs-White. But the assist came at a cost—Gibbs-White was forced off just 20 minutes into his cameo after a heavy collision with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

"This team is resilient, this team is playing with confidence," Pereira said after the match. "They are playing united, with organisation and with ambition to win the games. We came here, not to draw, but to try to win the game."

The win was even more impressive given it came between two legs of Forest's Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa. Pereira had initially planned to rest Gibbs-White for the midweek trip to Villa Park, but the injury has thrown those plans into doubt.

"I'm waiting, I'm not a doctor. Gibbs-White has a deep cut on his eyebrow so we'll see, but he's a fighter, he has a strong mentality," the manager said. "I hope our medical team can work magic, because he's a very important player for us."

Pereira added with a wry smile: "I said to him you don't need to head the balls, you just need to play, so we'll see." He remains optimistic the England international will feature on Thursday, noting Gibbs-White "is speaking normally, he remembers everything."

With survival now looking increasingly likely and a European semi-final second leg on the horizon, Forest's season is building toward a thrilling climax—and they'll need every bit of that resilience to see it through.
