Pep Guardiola has thrown his full support behind Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku, predicting the Belgian star has what it takes to reach the very top of the global game.

Doku has been in scintillating form this season, tallying eight goals and 14 assists across all competitions. His latest contribution came in City's commanding 3-0 victory over Brentford, where he found the back of the net.

When asked whether Doku can evolve into one of the world's elite wingers, Guardiola didn't hold back. "It depends on if you mentally say, 'I want to become one of the best wingers in the world.' Otherwise, you're in a comfort zone and you say, 'No, it's fine.' Jeremy has always had dribbles and works hard, but you have to say, 'No, I want to become one of the best of the best.'"

The City boss was then pressed on whether Doku can reach the heights of Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior or Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. "Yeah, for sure. And he always accepts being pushed. That is so nice. We are really pleased. Not only now, since I arrived. Now he is winning games, scoring goals. But he has always been really, really good. Solid," Guardiola added.

With a Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on the horizon and an FA Cup final against Chelsea looming next weekend, Guardiola is keeping his squad grounded. "We don't think about the generosity from the Premier League, as always. It has been really nice with this schedule. But it is what it is. If you don't play the final in the FA Cup, you don't have this schedule. So we are in the final, and you have this schedule."

Reflecting on City's relentless pursuit of silverware, Guardiola recalled last season's treble-winning run. "I would love to have this schedule with the semi-final of the Champions League, in the middle of the title race. We were there. We won the treble, we were there in that dynamic."
