New York Giants cornerback Paulson Adebo was notably absent when the team's voluntary offseason workout program opened earlier this week, alongside defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and defensive lineman Sam Roberts.

Head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged the absences during a press conference, stressing the voluntary nature of the sessions and noting that players participate at their own discretion

"Paulson wasn't here," Harbaugh said. "There's no excused or unexcused. It's voluntary. Guys come or not come according to their choosing. Voluntary-type time of year."

Adebo has maintained communication with the Giants' coaching staff despite not attending the initial workouts, reports Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

Duggan indicated that the absence does not stem from any contract-related dispute. Adebo stands to earn a $250,000 bonus if he attends at least 84.4 percent of the offseason program sessions, leaving open the possibility of his return in the coming days and weeks.

The 26-year-old defensive back signed with the Giants before the 2025 season and started all 12 games in which he appeared last year, recording one interception and eight passes defensed.

While the exact reason for his initial absence remains unclear and appears to be a personal matter, ongoing dialogue with the staff suggests the situation is not a point of significant concern at this early stage of the offseason.
