Former Celtics star Paul Pierce feels the Lakers are about to get destroyed in the second round of the NBA playoffs by the Thunder.

Paul Pierce isn't mincing words about the Lakers' chances against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals. The former Celtics star and self-proclaimed Lakers fan-turned-analyst predicts a clean sweep for the defending champions.

"I don't see the Lakers hanging with this group," Pierce said on the "No Fouls Given" podcast. His reasoning? The Thunder are battle-tested and built for this moment. Even with key injuries on both sides, Pierce believes the talent gap is too wide.

The Thunder enter as heavy favorites, and for good reason. They've already proven they can win without Jalen Williams, who played only 33 regular-season games. Meanwhile, the Lakers are scrambling without Luka Dončić, sidelined with a hamstring strain with no clear return date. That leaves LeBron James, now 41, carrying an even heavier load.

"He's going to log a lot of minutes and he's going to be on the ball a lot more than he was when Luka is out there," Pierce explained. "It's just going to be difficult."

But it's the defensive pressure that Pierce thinks will truly wear down the Lakers' aging superstar. "I don't want Lu Dort draped all over me all game, holding me. Cason Wallace, just all these guys draped all over you. When I got older, the guys started denying, you just like, don't want to waste the energy to get open."

James has a legendary history of playoff heroics, but this challenge feels different. The Thunder are not just the defending champions—they're the best defensive team in basketball. Every possession will be a grind, and with Dončić's status uncertain, the Lakers' margin for error is razor-thin.

Of course, upsets happen. We've already seen a few surprises this postseason. But as Pierce sees it, don't expect the Lakers to steal even one game. For fans dreaming of a deep playoff run, this prediction is a cold dose of reality.
