New England Patriots offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker is making steady progress in his recovery from a season-ending triceps tear, and he's right on schedule for a return to the field. After missing the entire 2025 campaign due to the injury suffered just before Week 1, the 26-year-old is now targeting training camp later this summer—and even expects to be active for organized team activities later this month.
"I'm definitely on track. Feeling great," Vera-Tucker told reporters after a voluntary offseason workout. "Shout out to the training staff here—they're doing a phenomenal job. Communication has been key throughout this recovery, and everything's going smoothly."
This isn't the first time Vera-Tucker has faced a long road back. He previously endured a season-ending triceps tear in his other arm back in 2022, followed by a torn Achilles that sidelined him for the final 12 games of the following season. Despite that challenging injury history, he's embracing new approaches to stay healthy. "We've got a great nutrition staff here," he said. "I've been working closely with them to speed up the process and set myself up for long-term success."
After appearing in just 43 of a possible 85 games over his career, Vera-Tucker signed a three-year, $48 million deal with New England this offseason. Now, he's eager to prove his worth—not just to the front office, but to his new teammates. "Nobody on this team has seen me play yet," he explained. "The coaches have seen my film, sure, but I've got something to prove to every single guy in that locker room. I want them to know exactly why I'm here."
When he does return, Vera-Tucker is expected to line up at left guard, positioned between rookie left tackle Will Campbell and center Jared Wilson. The early reps during the team's voluntary offseason program have already helped him build crucial chemistry with his new offensive line mates—a promising sign for a Patriots unit looking to solidify its protection up front.
