The New England Patriots' 2026 draft class is officially suited up—at least in terms of jersey numbers. As the nine newest members of the squad prepare to arrive in Foxborough for rookie minicamp later this week, the team wasted no time giving them a proper welcome: their first NFL digits.

From the top pick to the final selection, the numbers span a wide range. First-round offensive tackle Caleb Lomu will wear No. 74, while seventh-rounder Quintayvious Hutchins takes No. 45. In between, each player has been assigned a number that, while not always matching their college days, carries its own story.

Take Lomu, for instance. At Utah, he rocked No. 71, but that number is already spoken for by veteran guard Mike Onwenu in New England. So the team gave him the next best thing in the 70s. Similarly, offensive tackle Dametrious Crownover had to switch from No. 78—retired for Patriots legend Bruce Armstrong—to No. 68.

Then there's second-round pick Gabe Jacas, who wore No. 17 at Illinois but is now back in the 50s with No. 50. Why? Both his college number and his high school No. 52 are already taken by Patriots players. Interestingly, his new number carries extra weight: it's the same digits head coach Mike Vrabel wore during his playing days, making Jacas the first Patriot to receive that honor since Vrabel took the helm.

While the draft picks are all set, the Patriots' reported 12-player undrafted free agent class is still waiting for their official numbers. They'll join the drafted players and a group of tryouts for rookie minicamp from Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 10. For fans eager to see the next generation in action, it's the first real glimpse of what the future holds—and now, you'll know exactly who to look for on the field.
