New England Patriots players are rallying behind head coach Mike Vrabel as he navigates a photo scandal involving sports reporter Dianna Russini—and cornerback Christian Gonzalez is making his support crystal clear.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, May 2, the 23-year-old defensive back kept the locker room conversation private but left no doubt about where his loyalty lies. "We ain't gonna speak on what we talked about inside the building," Gonzalez said. "But I mean, that's my coach. That's who I go out there and play for. He's proven what he can do as a coach, and that's my guy, and I ride behind Vrabes any time of the day."

Gonzalez joins a growing chorus of Patriots players publicly backing their 50-year-old head coach, who stepped away during the 2026 NFL Draft last month to seek counseling. Quarterback Drake Maye, also 23, voiced similar sentiments on April 29, telling WHDH-TV 7News in Boston, "We're here for Coach, we love Coach." Maye added, "What he does for us, what he's done for us this past year, you can't speak into words. Thankful he's our head coach. Know he's dealing with some off-the-field stuff, but we're here for him, and I know he's gonna come back."

Tight end Hunter Henry also weighed in, praising Vrabel's handling of the situation with the team. According to Yahoo Sports, Henry told reporters that Vrabel "did a great job" addressing the controversy, noting that "it's been the same Vrabes bringing a lot of energy in the room."

For Gonzalez and his teammates, the message is unified: despite the distractions, their focus remains on the field—and on the coach they trust to lead them there.
