In a display of exceptional consistency, the Peru Nighthawks' top three golfers once again stole the spotlight on Monday, proving why they're the backbone of the team's success this season.
Patrick Clark led the charge with an impressive medalist round of 36, while Cooper Sweeney and Liam Clark weren't far behind, shooting 37 and 38 respectively. Their stellar performances propelled the Nighthawks to a commanding 5.5-0.5 CVAC victory over Moriah, showcasing the depth that has defined their campaign.
The head-to-head battle at the No. 1 spot was a nail-biter, with Sweeney and Moriah's standout Silas Reeder finishing deadlocked at 37-37, a testament to the high-caliber competition on the course.
"Our top three golfers have been very consistent all year and continue to play well," Peru coach Ryon O'Connell said, praising his squad's reliability. "Riley (Zielinski) had a good round (43) as our No. 4 man, while Steve (Santor) and Paxton (Akin, 49) keep getting better each time out."
Elsewhere on the links, Plattsburgh's Jacques Gervich fired a solid 44 to help the Hornets edge past the Spartans. Thaddeus Lemos and Tyler Adams also secured wins for PHS, while Noah Terry (46) and Eric Glover countered for Saranac. The No. 2 match ended in a stalemate, with the Hornets' Jack Studley and the Spartans' Jason Mather both carding 46s.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic's Jack Trombley stole the show with a sharp 39, the low score of the day across all matches, while teammates Hines (47) and Leary (55) rounded out the scoring.
Over in Keene, Sam Crowl was the star of the afternoon, shooting a brilliant 35 to earn medalist honors and power the Beavers past the Panthers. Asa Sprague, Peter Robjent, Sylvan Linton, Brody Harrell, and Charlie Stringer all contributed wins for Keene, while Crown Point's Jared Kimball battled to a 46 as his team's low scorer.
From top to bottom, Monday's action highlighted the talent and grit that make high school golf a thrilling watch—whether you're on the course or gearing up for your own round.
