The Carolina Panthers have made yet another move here on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft.
After starting their afternoon with a pair of trade-downs, the team has now moved up in the fifth round—acquiring the 151st overall selection from the Miami Dolphins. Carolina will also receive Pick No. 227 (seventh round) in exchange for Pick No. 158 (fifth round) and Pick No. 200 (sixth round).
And with the 151st pick, the Panthers have taken Penn State safety Zakee Wheatley.
The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Crofton, Md. native played all five of his collegiate seasons as a member of the Nittany Lions. He recorded 223 tackles and six interceptions over 58 games from 2021 to 2025.
Wheatly joins Texas A&M cornerback Will Lee III (129th overall) and Kansas State center Sam Hecht (144th overall) as the team's selections on Saturday. Pick No. 227 remains.
