Friday marked the first day of the Carolina Panthers’ mini rookie camp.

Friday marked an exciting new chapter for the Carolina Panthers as they kicked off their first day of mini rookie camp. The energy was palpable as the team's newest additions got a crash course in everything Panthers football—from playbook basics to team culture.

But one rookie is already stepping up as a leader. First-round draft pick Monroe Freeling isn't wasting any time building chemistry with his new teammates. During lunch, he took the initiative to start conversations and foster a sense of brotherhood among the offensive linemen. "First pick or last pick, I'm going to come in and be me," Freeling said. "If that means talking to people like I am now, that's what it is. I'm just trying to get to know everyone and be brothers with my offensive linemen." It's that kind of mentality that can transform a group of individuals into a cohesive unit.

Head Coach Dave Canales emphasized the importance of making the rookies feel at home from day one. "The overarching philosophy of our team is about our play style and the things that matter to us," Canales explained. "We're trying to give them a sense of the team they're joining, what they're coming into, and where we're at."

As the roster continues to take shape, it's becoming clearer that General Manager Dan Morgan and Coach Canales are building something special. "We've been on the field doing drills with our guys—the same drills we're putting the players through here," Canales added. "So we have a good apples-to-apples comparison."

Interestingly, the minicamp isn't just a learning experience for the players. Canales noted it's also a developmental opportunity for the coaching staff to refine their approach. With the Panthers also picking up Bryce Young's fifth-year option, the future is looking bright in Carolina.
