When you think of NFL Swiss Army knives, Taysom Hill's name usually comes to mind. The Carolina Panthers might have just found their own version of that versatile weapon.

Head coach Dave Canales couldn't hide his excitement after the team's rookie minicamp wrapped up, especially when talking about undrafted free agent quarterback Haynes King. The Georgia Tech product turned heads with his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

"Off the film, the thing I was most excited about is you just watch his offense move the chains," Canales told reporters. "Third and fourth down, two-minute drill, the ball goes down the field, they score points. There's a bunch of different ways you can affect the game as a quarterback—with your mind, with your arm and with your legs. He's got a way that he's able to find wins."

And find wins he did. King dominated the ACC last season, earning both ACC Player of the Year and ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors. His stat line reads like a video game: 2,951 passing yards with 14 touchdowns through the air, plus a league-leading 15 rushing touchdowns on the ground. That dual-threat production is exactly what got the Panthers' coaching staff buzzing.

Canales got even more specific about what stood out during minicamp. "It was great to see him in person—just work around, coming off play actions, the bootlegs and then just certainly seeing the athleticism that he has in his body show off in his arm. A lot of zip, a lot of pop there. He did a great job in the classroom also."

When asked about the Taysom Hill comparisons, King didn't shy away from the conversation. "At the end of the day, everybody kinda wants to play. Taysom Hill—he's a pretty good athlete and a pretty good ball player as well. I feel like, in my confidence, that I can play quarterback at this level. That's my first goal—is to make it as a quarterback and do as best as I can."

Given Carolina's familiarity with Hill from his New Orleans Saints days, having a similar weapon in the building could add an exciting new dimension to their offense. While King's primary focus remains quarterback, his versatility might just be the edge he needs to carve out a roster spot.
