The Florida Panthers are sending some serious firepower to the international stage this spring.

Hockey Canada has announced its coaching and support staff for the 2026 IIHF World Championship, and Panthers Assistant General Manager Gregory Campbell is officially on board. He’ll be joining the team’s front office to help shape a championship-caliber roster ahead of the highly anticipated tournament, which kicks off later this month in Switzerland.

Campbell is one of just two NHL executives selected for this prestigious role—the other being Andrew Cogliano, a special assistant to Colorado Avalanche GM Chris MacFarland. Both will need to hit the ground running, as the World Championship runs from May 15 to May 31, and Team Canada is expected to announce its full roster in the coming days.

For Panthers fans, this is a familiar face stepping into a key role. Campbell joined the organization in 2020 as Vice President of Player Personnel and Development, just two weeks after Bill Zito was named General Manager. He later took the reins as GM of Florida’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, before being promoted to Assistant GM in 2023. His deep understanding of player evaluation and development makes him a natural fit for building a winning national team.

This year’s World Championship promises to be a showcase of elite talent, and having Campbell in the mix gives Panthers Nation even more reason to tune in. Whether you’re cheering for your favorite Cats or just love high-stakes international hockey, this is a tournament you won’t want to miss.
