There's a lot to Zakee Wheatley's game. But the new Carolina Panthers draft pick tried his best to cover it all.

Wheatley spoke with local reporters on Saturday, right after he was taken with the 151st overall selection of the 2026 NFL Draft. The athletic 6-foot-3, 203-pound defensive back was asked to talk about his play style—which should fit in rather well with how the Panthers defense operates.

"I would describe my game as versatile, fluent," Wheatley stated. "I like going sideline to sideline making plays. I'm someone that's gonna be aggressive, be super tough and give it my all every single time. I strap my helmet up."

Over his five years at Penn State, Wheatley was used primarily as a free safety—where he effectively put his length and range on display. He recorded a total of six interceptions and, per Pro Football Focus, allowed just 36 yards in coverage this past season.

In Carolina, Wheatley may line up at times as a big nickel given his impressive size. But wherever Wheatley's put, he'll be ready to contribute.

"I wanna do anything I have to do to help this organization and help this team," Wheatley later added. "And whatever Coach says he needs me to do, to learn and fit in—I wanna do that."
