The diamond is heating up in Palm Beach County as five local baseball teams battle for a spot in the state tournament. This weekend's regional semifinals are all best-of-three series, with the winners advancing to the regional finals—the final hurdle before the FHSAA State Championships, which take place May 13-20 in Fort Myers.
Action kicked off Friday with some decisive performances. Top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas took control early, defeating No. 5 West Boca Raton 7-2. The series continues Saturday, May 2, with West Boca Raton traveling to St. Thomas Aquinas for a 4 p.m. game (a second game will follow if needed).
In another Friday matchup, No. 3 Chaminade-Madonna dominated No. 2 St. John Paul II Academy with a commanding 13-0 victory. These two teams meet again Saturday at noon, with Chaminade-Madonna on the road at St. John Paul II Academy (second game to follow, if necessary).
Meanwhile, No. 6 Miami-Brito shut out No. 7 Jupiter Christian 11-0 on Friday. Jupiter Christian will look to bounce back Saturday at 10 a.m. when they visit Miami-Brito for another potential doubleheader.
Rounding out the schedule, Jupiter faces Park Vista on Saturday at 1 p.m., with a second game to follow if needed. All eyes are on these matchups as teams fight for a coveted trip to Fort Myers—and a shot at state glory.
