João Palhinha has fired a rallying cry for Tottenham, insisting the club is "much better" than its precarious league position suggests. With just two games remaining in the Premier League season, Spurs are locked in a tense battle for survival—sitting only two points above the relegation zone after a 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
The Portuguese midfielder, on loan from Bayern Munich, remains defiant despite a turbulent campaign. "I think it's been a really tough season, but I think we are much better than most of the teams that are in front of us," Palhinha said. "The season was not the best, that's true, but this team has all the capacity to turn this situation around. We have been showing we are improving a lot."
For a club of Tottenham's stature, a relegation scrap is uncharted territory. But Palhinha is confident the squad can rise to the occasion. "We are always fighting for the same thing—to keep the club in the Premier League because that's where it belongs," he added.
Adding to the optimism is the return of James Maddison, who made his comeback against Leeds after more than a year on the sidelines. Palhinha was quick to highlight the midfielder's impact, both on and off the pitch. "It's amazing. We really miss him—not just on the pitch, but also in the dressing room. He's a really important player for us, a top player. I don't need to say many things about him because you know. We are really glad to have him back."
With two high-stakes fixtures left, Spurs will need all the firepower they can get. And for fans and players alike, the return of a creative force like Maddison could be the spark that keeps Tottenham's Premier League dream alive.
