Paige Shiver has opened up about her affair with the former head coach of the University of Michigan’s football team, Sherrone Moore, including the fact that she was once pregnant with their child.
Shiver, 32, entered into a secret relationship with Moore, 40 — who shares three children with his wife, Kelli — in 2022, when she was an intern. Shiver was promoted to his executive assistant role in 2024, when he took on the program’s head coach position.
In an interview with ABC News’ Linsey Davis, which aired on Good Morning America on Friday, April 24, Shiver revealed she had to terminate the pregnancy because of Pompe disease, a genetic condition that causes severe muscle weakness and wasting and can be fatal, per the Cleveland Clinic.
“Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby,” Shiver shared. When Davis asked if she wanted to keep the baby, she responded, “Yeah,” through tears.
As for what Moore thought, Shiver recalled, “He said, ‘You have to do what’s right for your body.’”
Shiver admitted she thought she was in love with Moore at the time, but has since realized “that’s not love at all.”
“Did you feel pressured to have the relationship in order to have job security?” Davis asked in the interview.
“Yes, he and other coaches had control over my career, especially him. He could fire me in a second,” Shiver explained. “Every time I tried to pull away, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and make me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me.”
Shiver came clean about the relationship to the University in December 2025, and Moore was fired, which led to a downward spiral, including him breaking into her apartment and allegedly threatening to hurt himself because of her.
“He comes in with his hood up, looking down at me, saying I ruined his life crying … then starts coming at me,” Shiver recounted during the interview. “I tell him to leave that he’s not supposed to be here. He’s not listening to me. And then he starts grabbing, yes, butter knives.”
On Tuesday, April 14, a judge sentenced Moore — who took a plea deal — to 18 months of probation for misdemeanor counts of trespassing and malicious use of a phone, according to Davis.
“I think he should have gotten more punishment for what he did,” Shiver said.
