The NCAA transfer portal is officially open for business, and the Gonzaga women's basketball program has seen its first entry of the cycle. Sophomore guard Paige Lofing has entered her name, marking a significant early move for the Bulldogs.
Standing at 5'9", the point guard from Billings, Montana appeared in 27 games during her freshman season, averaging 2.2 points in 6.4 minutes per contest. While her overall stats were modest, Lofing showed flashes of the clutch scoring ability that made her the 2025 Montana Gatorade Player of the Year.
Her potential was on full display in key moments throughout the 2025-26 campaign. Most notably, she drilled a deep three-pointer to force overtime in a road game against Oregon State on January 22nd. She later posted a career-high performance just days later against Washington State, proving she can deliver in pressure situations.
Lofing's decision opens up a second scholarship for Head Coach Lisa Fortier's squad. The women's basketball portal opened on April 6th and will close on April 20th. With Lofing's departure, alongside seniors Ines Bettencourt and Vera Gunaydin, Gonzaga currently has 10 of its 15 roster spots filled for the upcoming season.
This move underscores the dynamic nature of modern college athletics, where players seek the best fit to develop their game. Lofing's scoring pedigree and demonstrated poise suggest she could be a valuable addition for another program looking to bolster its backcourt leadership.
