The Packers' move to sign Tyrod Taylor is going to cost another of the team's quarterbacks his spot on the 90-man roster in Green Bay.

The Green Bay Packers are making room for veteran Tyrod Taylor, and that means saying goodbye to another quarterback on their 90-man roster. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Packers are releasing Desmond Ridder, a move that reshapes the team's depth chart under center.

Ridder joined the Packers last December but never saw game action. His departure leaves four quarterbacks in the mix: Jordan Love, newly signed Tyrod Taylor, Kyle McCord, and rookie Kyron Drones. It's a compressed but experienced group, with Taylor bringing 14 years of NFL savvy to back up Love.

For Ridder, this is just the latest stop in a nomadic stretch. He spent time with the Bengals and Vikings last year before landing in Green Bay. His last regular-season snaps came in 2024, when he appeared in six games for the Las Vegas Raiders. A third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ridder started 17 games over his first two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, showing flashes of promise but ultimately struggling with consistency.

Over his NFL career, Ridder has completed 322 of 503 passes for 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. While his time in Green Bay was brief, his journey underscores the constant churn of quarterback rooms across the league—and how one signing can ripple through an entire roster.
