The Green Bay Packers have found their insurance policy for quarterback Jordan Love, signing veteran Tyrod Taylor to a deal on Monday, May 4—just days after losing backup Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

Taylor, who turns 37 this season, brings a wealth of experience to the Packers' quarterback room. The 15-year NFL veteran has appeared in 100 games and made 62 starts across seven different teams, most notably leading the Buffalo Bills to their first playoff berth in 17 years during the 2017 season. Most recently, he started four games for the New York Jets in 2025, completing 80 of 134 passes for 779 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions.

Love himself has been solid when healthy, missing two games in each of the past two seasons. In 2025, he posted a 66.3 percent completion rate with 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just six interceptions over 15 starts. But Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst made it clear that having a reliable backup is a priority.

"It’s a really important thing for us. Jordan, the last two years has missed some time, and we’ve needed somebody to come in there and play at a high level to help win those games," Gutekunst told ESPN. "So, whoever’s called upon we’re going to expect that and when you lose a guy like Malik, it is something you’re going to have to replace, and we’re going to try to do that."

The Packers' quarterback depth chart now includes Taylor alongside Desmond Ridder, Kyle McCord, and Kyron Drones. Willis, who was a standout backup for Green Bay—completing 78.7 percent of his passes for 972 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions in limited action—signed a three-year, $67.5 million deal with the Dolphins, who moved on from former starter Tua Tagovailoa.
