The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver room is undergoing a significant reshuffle this offseason. In a move reported by multiple national outlets, the Packers are trading young wideout Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles. The reported return for Green Bay is a pair of future draft selections: a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-rounder.
For Wicks, the trade comes with a fresh start and a reported one-year, $12.5 million extension. The 2023 fifth-round pick showed flashes of high potential during his three seasons in Green Bay, most notably with a career-best performance on Thanksgiving 2025. In that win over Detroit, he hauled in six passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns, including a clutch fourth-down catch to seal the victory. However, consistency proved elusive in a competitive Packers receiver corps, as he battled injuries and occasional drops throughout his 46-game tenure, finishing with 108 receptions for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns.
This move follows the earlier departure of Romeo Doubs in free agency and provides the Packers with approximately $2.6 million in additional salary cap space. The focus in Green Bay now shifts to the remaining talent. Christian Watson remains the established leader of the group, while a healthy Jayden Reed aims to bounce back. The trade also opens the door for increased roles for 2025 draft pick Matthew Golden and second-year player Savion Williams, with veterans like Skyy Moore and Bo Melton providing depth.
For the Eagles, acquiring Wicks adds a promising, young target to their offense at a time of uncertainty surrounding star A.J. Brown's future. Wicks will find a degree of familiarity in Philadelphia, reuniting with former Packers offensive assistant Sean Mannion, now the Eagles' offensive coordinator, and ex-Green Bay receivers coach Ryan Mahaffe.
