Packers OC says Jordan Morgan 'ready' for left tackle, clarifies roles

Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich believes Jordan Morgan was ready to play left tackle a year ago, and clarified some other roles on the O-line.

The Green Bay Packers' offensive line—long the backbone of the team—hit an unexpected rough patch in 2025. After more than a decade of rock-solid consistency, the unit struggled with a mix of new faces, injuries, and constant shuffling. Whether it was high-priced veteran Aaron Banks or younger players like Jordan Morgan and Anthony Belton, the line never quite found its rhythm.

Those issues showed up most painfully in critical moments. The Packers repeatedly struggled to close out games when holding narrow leads, and the playoff loss to Chicago was a stark reminder of how much work needed to be done up front.

But now, with an offseason of change behind them—Rasheed Walker and Elgton Jenkins have moved on, and rookie Jager Burton has joined the fold—the offensive line room looks more settled heading into 2026. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich met with the media on Monday to shed light on the new-look line, and his comments confirmed what many had suspected about the starting five.

Jordan Morgan, the Packers' first-round pick in 2024, is expected to slide over to left tackle—his natural college position. After spending his first two NFL seasons filling in at guard, Morgan showed real promise in spot duty at left tackle late last season. Stenavich couldn't hide his excitement.

"I'm excited about him being over there," Stenavich said. "I thought last year he showed flashes of being able to be a good left tackle in this league when we had him out there." He recalled a preseason game against the Colts when Morgan stepped in for an injured Rasheed Walker. "He did a great job. He played against some pretty good defensive linemen, and I saw him play and I was like: 'Yeah, he's ready.'"

Stenavich acknowledged that Morgan's versatility forced him into other roles last season, but the team is now ready to let him focus on one position. "We had to use him in other spots last year because that's what was best for the team," Stenavich said. "But I'm excited for him this year and what he's gonna do."

Between Stenavich and head coach Matt LaFleur, the message is clear: the Packers believe they have their left tackle of the future. Now, it's time to see him deliver. For a team looking to protect their quarterback and finally close out those tight games, Morgan's development could be the key to a much-needed turnaround.
