The Austin boys' track team sprinted to a strong second-place finish, while the Packer girls secured third at Tuesday's Northfield track and field invite. It was a day of standout performances, with athletes shining across multiple events.
For the Austin boys, Triumph Ogbeide was a triple threat, capturing first in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump. Myles Taylor leaped to victory in the triple jump, and Lance Keenan dominated the 800-meter run with a winning time of 2:04.36. The team's depth was on full display, with Carter Holt taking third in the 100-meter dash, Isaac Manyen and Hunter Jensen placing third and fourth in the 200-meter dash, and Noah Elizo and Thomas Asmus going 1-2 in the 1600-meter run. In the field events, Simon Pischke and Aiden Sehon added points with second and third in shot put, while Triumph Ogbeide and Isaac Mayen cleared the bar for first and second in high jump.
On the girls' side, Elaine Chumba soared to first in the triple jump, and Praise Ogbeide was a force in the hurdles and high jump, winning the 100-meter hurdles and high jump. Callie McRae and Yiamino Akane took second and third in the 300-meter hurdles, and the 4x200-meter relay team of Yiamino Akane, Callie McRae, Addison Walsh, and Brielle Corey crossed the line first. The 4x100-meter relay squad also impressed, finishing second.
Team scores saw Northfield top the boys' standings with 87.5 points, followed by Austin at 59 and Rochester Century with 43.5. For the girls, Northfield led with 75 points, Rochester Century was second at 71.25, and Austin rounded out the top three with 43.75. It was a day of grit and grace on the track, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
