The Austin girls golf team showed incredible resilience as they wrapped up a grueling three-day stretch with a solid 10th-place finish out of 15 teams at the Northfield Invite on Wednesday.
Leading the charge for the Packers was standout Ailani Thiravong, who carded an impressive 82 on the course. Her performance was a bright spot for Austin, which faced stiff competition from some of the state's top programs.
The team standings were headlined by powerhouse Wayzata taking the top spot with a 333, followed closely by Owatonna (340) and Lakeville North (341). East Ridge (343) and Red Wing (346) rounded out the top five, while Austin finished with a team total of 388.
Beyond Thiravong's strong showing, the Packers' scoring lineup included Lucy Annis (97), Reagan Harty (102), Ali Muzik (107), and Gracie Greenman (109). Despite the challenging back-to-back-to-back schedule, the team showed determination and growth against a deep field.
This kind of experience is invaluable for young golfers, and the Packers will look to build on this performance as they continue their season.
