The dynasty continues. Pace High School has once again proven why it's the undisputed king of Florida high school weightlifting, with the boys' team sweeping state titles for an incredible third consecutive year.
Just three months after the Patriots' girls' team extended their own championship streak, the boys' squad delivered a powerhouse performance at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland on Thursday. The team dominated both the Olympic and traditional competitions, cementing their legacy as a program built on relentless strength and discipline.
In the Olympic competition, Pace racked up 42 points, leaving runner-up Spruce Creek far behind with 25 points. Four lifters claimed individual state titles: Kollin Daniels (139 pounds), Ryan Harrigill (154), Grady White (183), and Jake Box (219). Their combined lifts showcased not only raw power but also technical precision, a hallmark of the program's training.
The traditional competition was equally impressive. Pace scored 29 points to secure the title, with Spruce Creek again finishing second at 20 points. Daniels and Harrigill swept their weight classes, winning both Olympic and traditional crowns, while Alex Gomez (199) also stood atop the podium. The team's depth and consistency are a testament to head coach Ty Wise's leadership and the athletes' year-round dedication.
These latest victories bring Pace's total to 11 boys' state titles—eight traditional and three Olympic. Coach Wise now holds 14 state championships, split evenly between the boys' and girls' programs. It's a level of sustained success that few high school programs in any sport can match.
