NORMAN — Oklahoma men's basketball looked to the G League to find its center.

The Sooners have signed Akoldah Gak, who played for the Washington Wizards' G League team, Capital City Go-Go, according to multiple reports. Gak is the nephew of former OU player Longar Longar.

The Australia native averaged 7.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this past season, according to his G League stats page.

Gak previously spent time with the Illawarra Hawks in Australia.

He's just the latest G League player to go the college route.

The trend started last September when Thierry Darlan committed to Santa Clara. Louisville's London Johnson and BYU's Abdullah Ahmed followed.

James Nnaji, who was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2023 but didn't play any NBA games, played for Baylor last season.

Charles Bediako, who played two seasons at Alabama and three seasons in the G League before returning to Alabama this past season, appeared in five games for the Crimson Tide in 2026 before a judge denied his motion for a preliminary injunction, ending his college career.

Dink Pate, a former guard with the G League's Westchester Knicks, committed to Providence earlier this month.
