Oklahoma men's basketball is making serious moves in the transfer portal, and the latest addition is a big one—literally. The Sooners have landed 6-foot-11, 230-pound center Yaak Yaak from Oregon State, according to On3's Pete Nakos. This marks another key pickup for OU's frontcourt as they continue to reshape their roster for the upcoming season.
Yaak brings a solid blend of size and skill to Norman. During his lone season with the Beavers, he started nine of 25 games, averaging 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds over 15.1 minutes per contest. His efficiency stood out, as he shot 51% from the field—a promising sign for a team looking to bolster its interior presence.
Yaak is the second center the Sooners have secured via the transfer portal this cycle, joining former G-League standout Akoldah Gak (also listed at 6-foot-11, 225 pounds). Together, they provide much-needed depth in the paint, especially after OU saw Mohamed Wague exhaust his eligibility and Kuol Atak transfer to Virginia Tech.
With the transfer portal now closed, only players who already entered their names can still make moves—making this a timely and strategic grab for head coach Porter Moser and his staff. As the Sooners continue to reload for a competitive season ahead, fans can expect a more formidable presence down low.
