The Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball program is seeing another key piece depart, as freshman forward Kuol Atak has entered the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-9 prospect from Haltom City, Texas, is seeking a new home after his first season in Norman.

Atak showed flashes of significant potential during his freshman campaign, averaging seven points per game. His most notable skill is his shooting touch from deep; he connected on 41% of his three-point attempts and had six games where he hit four or more shots from beyond the arc, including two explosive performances with six three-pointers each.

His season-high of 24 points against Mississippi Valley State in late December highlighted the scoring punch he can provide. It's this combination of size and floor-spacing ability that will make him an attractive target for programs across the country looking to add a modern stretch-forward to their roster.

Atak's decision continues a trend of roster movement for the Sooners. He becomes the fourth OU player to enter the portal this offseason, joining Jake Hansen, Andreas Holst, and Jeff Nwankwo. This shift underscores the dynamic and ever-changing nature of college basketball rosters in the transfer portal era.

For the Sooners, the focus now turns to reloading their own lineup through the portal. For Atak, a fresh start elsewhere offers the chance to build on a promising debut season and find a system where his unique skills as a lengthy, sharpshooting big man can fully flourish.
