When it comes to gender reveals, not everyone is a fan—but if you're going to do one, you might as well go all out with creativity. Baltimore Orioles pitcher Anthony Nunez may have just set a new standard, delivering a mid-game gender reveal for his brother during a Major League Baseball matchup.
In Sunday's tight 2-1 victory over the Athletics, Nunez took the mound for an inning of work, recording two walks and a strikeout. As the rookie pitcher headed back to the dugout after the inning, he spotted a MASN camera, stared directly into the lens, and mouthed the words, "It's a boy."
At first glance, that might seem like an odd thing to say after a solid outing—but Orioles announcer Kevin Brown quickly cleared things up. "Anthony is mouthing 'it's a boy' for some family members," Brown explained. "His brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Makayla Delgado, are expecting child No. 3. And that, folks, is one of the most creative gender reveals you'll ever see. Anthony had the answer, Danny and Makayla did not know, and I hope that you two are watching."
Commentator Ben McDonald chimed in with a laugh: "That's what I call multitasking. There's no way I would have thought to do that after getting out of that situation. That would have been the last thing on my mind, to be honest with you."
Brown added a warm touch: "Now that's a Mother's Day gift there."
It was a day of double wins for the Nunez family—the Orioles sealed the victory, and the Delgados got a unforgettable surprise. Congratulations to the growing family, and to Nunez for pulling off one of the most memorable on-field moments of the season.
