Baltimore Orioles manager Craig Albernaz received a classic baseball welcome during his first trip back to Cleveland as a visiting skipper. After spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons on the Guardians' coaching staff, Albernaz's homecoming included a lighthearted prank from his former colleague, manager Stephen Vogt.

Walking into the visiting manager's office at Progressive Field, Albernaz found his traditional workspace transformed. In its place were kid-sized furniture, a Spider-Man shower curtain, and an assortment of "Bluey" merchandise—a playful nod to the family-friendly hazing common in MLB clubhouses.

The office gag capped off an eventful week for the rookie manager. Just days earlier, Albernaz was struck in the dugout by a 70 mph foul ball off the bat of Orioles' Jeremiah Jackson, suffering a broken jaw and multiple cheek fractures. In a memorable twist, Jackson later hit a grand slam in the same game, presenting the autographed ball to his manager with a note that read, "Sorry homie."

While Albernaz joked that his mandated soft-food diet will be worse than his two-year-old daughter's, his focus remains on steering the 9-9 Orioles through a competitive AL East race. With key players already facing injuries, his leadership and resilience are being tested early in the season as Baltimore battles to keep pace with division rivals Tampa Bay and New York.
