Follow along as the Oregon Ducks look to bounce back from an ugly loss and even a critical series on the road against No. 1 UCLA.

The Oregon Ducks are in a fight for their lives. After a brutal Game 1 loss to the top-ranked UCLA Bruins, the No. 13 Ducks are looking to even the series in Los Angeles on Saturday night. It's a must-win situation for Oregon, and they'll need to bring their A-game to Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Friday's opener was ugly from the start. The Ducks managed just three hits and one run, while UCLA cruised to an 11-1 victory in seven innings. Oregon's right-hander Will Sanford struggled to close out innings, and the Bruins made him pay. UCLA's Wylan Moss, making only his third start of the season, went the distance and struck out nine Ducks, completely shutting down Oregon's offense.

Oregon's defense couldn't keep UCLA off the bases, and the Bruins built a 6-0 lead by the third inning. Drew Smith's long sacrifice fly finally put the Ducks on the board, but it was too little, too late. Head coach Mark Wasikowski shook up the lineup, moving Ryan Cooney back to the leadoff spot and inserting Dominic Hellman, who has seen limited action recently, into the fifth spot at first base. Jack Brooks also dropped to the nine-hole after leading off in recent games. The changes didn't spark the offense—Oregon managed just one extra-base hit (a double from Burke-Lee Mabeus) and drew only two walks.

Now, the Ducks turn to right-hander Collin Clarke (5-3, 4.21 ERA) to stop the bleeding. Clarke has been a reliable arm for Oregon this season, but he's hit a rough patch, allowing 17 runs over his last four starts. Last weekend against Washington, he lasted four innings, giving up three runs with three strikeouts. The Ducks need him to find his rhythm and give the bullpen a break.

UCLA will counter with senior right-hander Michael Barnett (6-0, 3.44 ERA), who is looking to clinch the series for the Bruins. The key for Oregon's hitters? Patience. Barnett has struggled with walks recently and pitches to contact. In his last outing against Michigan State, he walked four batters and allowed two runs while striking out just one. If the Ducks can work the count and get on base, they might finally crack UCLA's armor.

It's do-or-die for Oregon. Can they bounce back and keep this series alive? The first pitch is set for a pivotal night in Los Angeles.
